Guy Llewellyn

Guy's introduction to horn playing started at the age of 11 when he was asked to stop playing the trumpet and make up numbers in the depleted horn section of the school orchestra. Encouraged by this, Guy continued his horn studies to higher education, obtaining a degree in Music at Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology followed by an advanced performance course at the Royal College of Music in 1989.

After a taste of musical life in London, Guy settled in Cambridge where his playing has flourished with many musical organisations including the Cambridge University Musical Society, Cambridge Philharmonic Society, Cambridge Orchestra, K239 Chamber Orchestra, the Sinfonia of Cambridge and the East Anglia Chamber Orchestra.

Guy is also a member of The British Paraorchestra, Army of Generals Orchestra and the Charles Hazlewood All-star Collective. Recent appearances with these groups have included Glastonbury Festival (2016) and broadcasts on BBC television and radio. In 2016, Guy also appeared in the Channel 4 'Superhuman's' advert, promoting the 2016 Paralympic games and was subsequently viewed on-line by over 30 million people.

As a supporter of the Spinal Injuries Association, Guy was co-organiser of a 'Grade-one-a-Thon' which took place in January 2011 and raised over £90,000 for that cause.

Despite falling off his garage roof in 2010, Guy continues to enjoy playing the horn and participating in musical life in and around Cambridge.

Guy is grateful to David McLintock, who is currently filling in for him as horn player in Prime Brass whilst he recovering from illness.
